Peril in the Nursery ~ Portrait of Child with Preserved Beetle
This small child looks a bit concerned about the large insect crawling into her lap.
This is a real antique cabinet card portrait from the Victorian era of a small child. The child is dressed in a white dress and black shoes and sits on a brocade cloth with a beautiful pattern. The photograph is contrasted with black antique style photo corners and a background of distressed wallpaper pattern that if looked at close enough reveals subtle images of skulls throughout. Creeping toward's the child's lap rests a real preserved Rhino Beetle, Trichogomphus martabani.
The photograph and beetle are protected under glass in a sturdy black acrylic frame that measures 7"x7" and is ready to hang.
