Victorian Portrait of Child with Real Preserved Beetle in Shadowbox

This small child is unaware of the large creature that's about to crawl into her lap

This is a real antique cabinet card portrait from the Victorian era of a small child. The child is dressed in a white dress and sits on a brocade cloth with a beautiful pattern. The bottom reads "J. S. Saurman, 311 Felix St. St. Joseph, MO." The photograph is contrasted with an aged beige, orange, and dark blue wallpaper pattern. Creeping toward's the child's lap rests a real preserved Stag Beetle, Lucanus formosanus.

The photograph and beetle are protected under glass in a sturdy black wood frame that measures 7 1/2"x5 1/2" and is ready to hang.
